About
Meet the Hopkins
After 30 years in corporate America, we found ourselves craving something more. The long hours, the constant hustle — it all started to feel like we were drifting further from the things that mattered most.
So, we paused. We prayed. And we listened.
What kept rising to the surface was a quiet but steady pull toward the simple, grounding things we’ve always loved: faith, family, farming, fellowship, and food.
The kind of life where Sundays are slow, dinners are shared, hands are in the dirt, and hearts are full.
There’s a saying we’ve always loved: “If you’re doing what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Well, we figured it was time to give that a try.
This is us, starting fresh — chasing purpose, living slower, and pouring our hearts into the life we’ve always dreamed of.

Faith

We prayed. We asked for clarity, for guidance, and to be led toward the purpose God had in mind for us.
And slowly, but unmistakably, the signs began to show up.
Little things at first — moments that could’ve been brushed off as coincidence. But the more we paid attention, the more obvious it became: God was leading us. One story after another confirmed it. Doors opened, conversations happened, opportunities appeared — and they all pointed in the same direction.
Toward faith, family, farming, fellowship, and food.
So here we are — stepping into a new season of life with full hearts and open hands. The path isn’t always clear, but the peace we’ve found along the way reminds us daily that we’re right where we’re meant to be.
We continue to trust, to listen, and to follow His lead.

We want The Market Over Yonder to be more than just a place to shop — we want it to be a reflection of the faith that guides our lives.
Our heart is for The Market to be a faith-based space — where both employees and customers feel the difference the moment they walk through the doors. A place filled with kindness, honesty, integrity, and love.
We want people to know exactly what kind of environment they’re stepping into: one rooted in faith, built on purpose, and open to all.
Whether you’re here to work, to shop, or simply to stop by and say hello — we hope you leave feeling encouraged, seen, and maybe even a little closer to what matters most.

Family
Bill and Lisa look forward to working side by side every day, building something meaningful together through their very own family business. What makes it even sweeter is sharing this journey with the people they love most.
Their son and daughter-in-law have become an important part of life at The Market Over Yonder, and they look forward to the days when their grandson, Finnegan, comes running through the doors, eager to see what Pops and Lolli are up to that day. (And hopefully, to sneak a treat or two!)
Though the Navy currently has the attention of their daughter and son-in-law, Bill and Lisa are hopeful they’ll be involved in some way down the road. One thing’s for sure — they can’t wait for all the visits from Aubrey and Emmett, and plan to spoil them with every sweet the Market has to offer.

For this family, The Market Over Yonder isn’t just a business — it’s a legacy of love, faith, and togetherness. And they’re so grateful you’re part of the story.

Another blessing in this journey is having all of our parents living nearby. One of the sweetest joys we imagine is seeing them stop by The Market Over Yonder — maybe to pick up a favorite treat, or simply to sit a while in a rocking chair on the front porch, soaking in the day.
We look forward to them enjoying everything the Market has to offer — not just the goodies and fresh finds, but the peace, the fellowship, and the feeling of home.
In many ways, this dream is for them too — a place where generations can gather, slow down, and be together.

We’ve always shared an entrepreneurial spirit, a drive to create something of our own. Now, we’re incredibly excited to finally bring that spirit to life — and to combine it with the things that matter most to us: our faith, our family, our love of farming, fellowship, and good food.
This isn’t just a business for us — it’s the fulfillment of a long-held dream. One that allows us to live out our values every single day, to work alongside the people we love, and to welcome our community into something we hope feels like home.

Farming

It’s been a part of our family for generations, and for Bill, it’s always been more than a livelihood — it’s a true love. That love is what led us to begin raising beef on our farm and sharing it with friends and neighbors over the years. What started small has grown steadily, and we’re grateful for the trust our community has placed in us.
With The Market Over Yonder, we’re excited to take that same commitment to quality and care even further. Our vision is rooted in the farm-to-table (or farm-to-fork) way of life — offering local, seasonal, and thoughtfully sourced products whenever possible.
We’re passionate about supporting local farmers, makers, and producers — and about giving our customers access to the kinds of foods and goods they can feel good about bringing home.
We’ve also found so much inspiration in the Amish farming communities we’ve visited over the years. Their dedication to simple living, craftsmanship, and stewardship of the land has left a lasting impression on us. It’s our hope to bring some of those same authentic, high-quality products to Mercer County, creating a place where tradition, community, and wholesome living come together.

Fellowship

More than anything, we want The Market Over Yonder to be a blessing to our community.
A place where folks can stop in for a quick ice cream cone, a freshly baked good, or maybe linger a little longer — rocking on the front porch, or catching up with friends in The Gathering Place.
Whether you’re here for a few minutes or a few hours, we hope it always feels like home.
But beyond the goods we offer, our deepest hope is that The Market serves as a light — especially for those in our community who may be walking through difficult seasons. We want this space to be a place of comfort, connection, and care. A place where needs are noticed and kindness is offered freely.
Because to us, this is more than a market.
It’s a ministry. A mission.
And a small part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Food

At The Market Over Yonder, we're passionate about offering local foods and products that not only nourish the body, but also support the people and families right here in our own community.
We’re proud to provide a space where local growers, bakers, makers, and artisans can share their goods — from homegrown produce to handcrafted treasures — and know that their work is valued and celebrated.
We’re equally committed to offering fresh, wholesome options — including organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, steroid-free, preservative-free, and other thoughtfully sourced products for those seeking a cleaner, more natural lifestyle. Whether you're looking for health-conscious choices or just want to know where your food comes from, our goal is to bring you the best of both: good food and a good feeling about where it came from.
